Objectives

     The aim of the Haiyun Residential College, which was established in the 109th academic year, is “virtue”, the third element of the university’s motto “Righteousness, Uprightness, Virtue, and Compassion” and it has two characteristics:

     Cultivation of residential college students' ability of innovation, entrepreneurship, and self-learning. The cultivation of self-learning ability is one of the university’s educational goals and exploring innovation and entrepreneurship is also a key task of the university’s Office of Student Affairs; therefore, Haiyun Residential College will hold a series of Haiyun Garage entrepreneurial activities to build students’ self-learning, innovation and entrepreneurship capabilities. There are a series of activities, including
 Procedure A: Invite on- and off-campus experts in innovation, entrepreneurship, maker and marketing to share their skills;
 Procedure B: In the entrepreneurial maker space provided by Haiyun Entrepreneurship Garage, students learn to make products themselves;
 Procedure C: Students learn how to effectively sell their self-made products;
 Procedure D: Sharing and publishing of innovation and entrepreneurial achievements.

     Incorporation of off-campus extracurricular activities of ecological experience.  Venerable Master Hsing Yun once told teachers and students: “Possessing virtue can help a person make progress.” Therefore, Haiyun Residential College will hold a series of activities of ecological experience to combine with extracurricular learning, a key task of the university’s Office of Student Affairs. The co-learning meetings participated by teachers and students of Haiyun Residential College will guide students to think by means of diverse activities and provide students opportunities to reflect on their lives. For example, it organizes ecological tours such as beach clean by kayak at Dongshan River and DIY activities at leisure farms so as to provide college students with diverse content through guided explanations and co-learning experience.
